Changing the UCS (Workplane)
If I want to create a Cylinder in the X/Z plane as opposed to the X/Y - how would you do that?

Blehhhh... not having to work with the UCS was a HUGE reason we all dumped AutoCAD for 3D and went to SketchUp back in the day. This is a major area for "Ease of Use" which must be addressed.

In many cases the Dynamic UCS (DUCS) can/will take care of the orientation of the UCS. In a typical BIM workflow the UCS command will be rarely used.

I was just working with Shape and wanted to create some horizontal beams. Thanks for the tip.

The DUCS is switched on in Shape.
Start the _Cylinder command, hover over a face... etc.0 -
With DUCS, you can create a dummy solid to use for alignment, create your object, then delete the dummy solid.
You could also MANIPULATE the object into position after creation.
