Parametrize sewer structure
Dear all,
we have reoccurring tasks like underground sewer structures as attached. It looks to me like a sweep of a section (inlet, outlet diameters) along a defined path. We would like to parametrize this 3D in order to be able to adjust the structure by altering diameters and possibly other parameters.
If anybody has been doing similar tasks I'd greatly appreciate hints on how to accomplish further steps.
Best regards
Sebastian

Hi Sebastian
I think this is perfectly possible to parametrize such 3D models. I would suggest the following workflow:Create various types of chambers: rectangular (square), truncated rectangular (like in your sample structure. The thickness of the walls, floor and roof is controlled by a composition (which allows to adjust the thickness). Dimensions (length, width, height) can easliy be adjusted using the default commands such as Drag and Manipulate and/or parameters.
See https://help.bricsys.com/hc/en-us/articles/360010375319-Drag and https://help.bricsys.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006709293-ManipulateCreate fully parametrical inlets/outlets, which can be inserted as a component in the chambers. The 'subtractor' solid in the parametrical components automatically makes an opening in the chamber (mucht like a window inserted in a wall). Dimensions and position of the inserted components can be adjusted using parameters and default tools.

@Louis Verdonck : thanks for taking the time to answer. I understood your point modeling walls and inlets/outlets in a parametrized fashion. How would you go about modeling the floor so that it is parametrized as a function of inlet/outlet levels and diameters?

Dear Sebastian
Send in a support request as a BIM / Parametric Components issue to make it easier to discuss the issue. Provide some samples if possible.0
