Soooo many question....

  1. Can the scroll wheel function be customised? I'd like scrollwheelclick to be orbit, not pan. Pan could then be shift/scrollwheelclick, because I never use pan.

  • Hmmh,

I use Pan by MMB/Scroll Wheel Click all the time.

I agree that Zoom about Cursor is a great and important invention.
(Especially missing for Wacom Pen input, where there is no Scroll Wheel
and often CAD Software forget to offer an alternative replacement for
Zoom about Cursor - without a Scroll Wheel)
So Pan can basically be done by muscle memory by placing cursor -
scroll zoom out, placing cursor - scroll zoom in.

Just that it don't work that well in complex scenes where OpenGL is
lagging and at ist limit. That is where true Pan is more reliable.

But if you want to edit Mouse behavior,
    in Settings : MBUTTONPAN,
you can at least disable PAN. Not sure if :
    - [0] "Support action defined in Menu file"
Will really allow to define a SHIFT+MMB view rotation to MMB.

    But worth a try

    I wish for the same!

  • Disabling mbuttonpan was easy. Assignging the scrollwheelclick to orbit not so, if at all possible.

This is probably the most user unfriendly piece of software I have encountered.

  • Hmmh,
in Vectorworks all such things are hardcoded, you could not even deactivate Pan from MMB.

    But yes, it's a pity.
If you use Wacom Pen input, which has no Scroll Wheel, you are basically lost
for "Zoom about Mouse Cursor" in most CAD Apps.
While most 3D Apps offer alternate input options by standard Mouse Buttons + key.

Or that German Keyboards "comma" instead of point is seldom supported by any CAD App
beside from Nemetschek, which makes NumBlock number entry mostly useless,
while all 3D (Mesh) Apps I know work fine.
