Prevent External Reference from being highlighted

Hi,

I want to add an External Reference to a drawing in a way that it behaved more like a background picture or canvas, i.e. it is not selectable, does not get highlighted on mouse over and the cursor does not snap to any of the objects in the referenced drawing.

Is this possible?

    You could print your External Reference to a PDF and the use that as an Underlay. You can turn the snapping on or off for the vector geometry inside PDF Underlays. You could further place them on a locked layer.
