can you freeze off Layers in one viewport but keep it on another one?
is it possible to freeze off a layer in a viewport similar to the way you would do in autocad in order to show a particular layer in one viewport but then not show it in another viewport with-in the same paper space?

Not that I can see. I've tried to do this before, and I don't recall finding any way to do it.

Use _layfrz. Or in Layer Manager panel, toggle VP Freeze (that column might be collapsed if you don't see it at first) while model space is activated through the desired viewport. If changes don't take effect immediately, try a regen.
