Manipulator - persistent change "Arrowhead acts as 3D scale"?

Any ideas how to do this? This even wont stay persistent in the current drawing! Very annoying!
Using latest BricsCAD 22.

  • The default behavior of the manipulator arrowheads is hard-coded (= mirror). The scale behavior only applies the the current command session.

  • Thanks, Louis. Can we have the option to switch this behavior permanently?

  • I agree.
While I personally would prefer just "Copy" as a default.
(Could also happen by a key, like ALT+DRAG = Copy)
Scaling or Mirroring as an Option.

(I avoid mirroring as much as possible, use it only for simple 2D Elements
because for me it always leaded to problems later when exporting or just
    in general)

  • Really? what problems? I use it all the time.

  • From Microstation to 3DSMax, everything mirrored didn't translate at all.
Form CAD to CAD or other 3D exports mirrored objects often lost their
mirror state or switched mirror axes.

And now I learned that scaled Symbols will lose their Instance/Reference
status and will come into IFC as separate Block (duplicates).
    Same for Vectorworks to DWG.

I use Rotate for symmetric Objects instead,
redrawing for non symmetric objects :)

While scaling seems not as risky as Mirroring, I avoid that too.

  • Blimey - why should that be - that the mirrored geometry isn't redefined natively, but remains a processed version of the original?

  • I, too, use mirror all the time. For regular 2D or 3D objects usually with no troubles, although I do feel a smidge of trepidation when mirroring blocks, which I have memories of occasionally leading to errors or crashes. But since working with BricsCAD BIM over recent versions, I rarely notice problems with mirrored blocks. BimFlip is indispensable for door components, etc., and I believe all that command does is mirror the thing within the opening by setting Scale X to -1.

Add my name to the vote for user-specified default manipulator behavior (even though I do use the arrowheads most often for mirror).

    It looks so,
    maybe depending on Software.

I think in general it is save to mirror or scale,
as long as you don't leave your CAD.
