Cursor snapping to an apparent hidden net, while drawing entities

hi all -

SNAP mode is off, ESNAP is also off
Attempting to draw a line, the cursor snaps to an apparently unseen net.
drawing sequence of lines - each starting from to nearby "snapped" points, indicates the net's gaps are consistent.

would appreciate a help on the variable disabling this hidden net functoinality.

What is the value of the SNAPTYPE system variable? When it is 2, Adaptive Grid snap is active. Set the value of SNAPTYPE = 0.

GRID and SNAP can do what your talking about, turn them off

It's definitely the value of the SNAPTYPE system variable that this issue is about. If SNAPTYPE=2, SNAPMODE is ignored.
