Parameter or Constraint value to Mtext field
I want to display a value from a parameter thats linked to my constraints into a Mtext Field.
I have only found a workaround (link a field to a dimension that has the same value).
Does anybody know if this can be done?
With kind regards
Robert

Any thoughts? I am trying to do the same. Plus I am looking for an option to round the linked value up to next greater integer.0

Hi Robert,
You should be able to get to your parameters using _FIELDs.
1. Create a new _FIELD and browse for Extensions > Extension Properties.
2. Select your parametric block
3. From the Properties Category choose Parameters.
All the best,

Hey Billie, thanks for the reply.
I should have been more specific in my problem.
I'm looking to add a "Mechanical Parameter" to a field.
As far as I can tell i can't add Mechanical properties to a field sadly.
Bim gets more love then Mechanical sadly0 -
Hey Robert!
Take another look at the drop-down where you see the word "BIM" displayed. You should be able to select the "Parameters" category and find your parameters there. (As long as you have selected a block that has some parameters defined in it)
I think it should be there.0 -
Hey Billy,
The parameter is not in a block, its in the currently active DWG.
This type parameter is used to drive mechanical constraints or designtables

This is an issues I've brought up multiple times on the forum and in support requests.
You cant even get the material for the currently open DWG in mechanical Fields.
I urge you to add a feature request, if we have enough hopefully Mechanical will get some deserved love.0 -
Good to hear that i'm not the only one requesting that feature, I made a request for it some time ago.0

Will this problem be solved in the near future?
It is a basic function!
I tried to read parameters in a Field, but they are simply not existent.

I have found the category where the parameters are stored.
It is listed last in the fields name.EXTENSIONS:
select the ExtensionProperties - select the Object you want the Parameter-
select Parameters in the Property category and
you get a list of parameters contained in the selected block.
If the parameter has a dimension defined like cm, mm etc. this is also read out, so you have to change the parameters if you need just the numbers
the value of the parameter is shown in the attribute, but if the parameter is changed, the link to this parameter gets lost, and it displays ####
still disappointing as you cannot display the parameters of a parametric block :(((
