Blockify in nested blocks

I have a drawing (file A) with multiple blocks inserted from a program that only exports DXF files. I want to replace objects in those inserted DXF files with blocks. The drawing (file A) may contain up to 100 inserted DXF files. Is there a way to use blockify in File A, to change entities in the Inserted Blocks? Blockify is Fantastic!!

  • Hi Golferrob,
Interesting thought! Could you specify how exactly you would see this?

So File A contains XREFs to all different (DXF) files? And within each of these files separately, there is a lot of repetition; which you would like to replace with blocks in one go (by launching Blockify in File A)?

Or would you mean that Blockify would detect repetition across different, multiple DXF files?

Thank you in advance for your answer!

Uih, that sounds like magic .... but very helpful though.

I am just not sure about referenced Files somehow.
A reference is a referenced appearance of another file in a working file
and should resemble exactly that file.
With the exception that you can relocate that file about your working file
or switch visibilities and maybe appearance.

So for me that sounds more like a Batch Blockify over external files (?)
Which will fall back into their former crap state, after being updated by
    more recent versions.
Which needs to run Batch Blockify again (only for the files that changed ?)

(If no source updates or changes to expect, one could bring all REF geometry
into a single container file to just run Blockify one time only ?)
