Migrating from AutoCAD MEP, Civil 3D, AutoCAD Architecture

Hello everyone

I wish to migrate gradually from AutoCAD MEP, Civil 3D, Architecture, and I wish to test some features that I did not find in the internet.

...for now, I do not need 3D features, I just wish to know if possible do anything similar to:

1 "Property Set Definitions" (create customized data)
2 "Schedules" (data extracted with Property Set Definitions)
3 "Tags" (annotations with data extracted from Property Set Definitions)

... but in any object, I mean 0D (points and others), 1D(lines and others), 2D(mesh and others) and 3D (solids and others).

anyone know if possible do something similar?

  • Hi,
custom property sets can be used on any BIM type. If you classify any object as a BIM type you can use the property sets. But...
    * quantities will not be calculated, these are based on solids
    * only solids and surfaces can be exported to IFC

Schedules are based on dataextraction, this should work.

Tags are placed on the result of section generation (similar to section to block). This does not work on lines and points, only solids and surfaces.

So as some thing might work, it will be hard / impossible to have a complete workflow in 2d.
  • Thanks for the answer

Is there any method to link BImTag to a 2D polyline length?
