Will the upgrade to V23 on Pro trash my delicate combination of Bricsys and AutoCad configurations?

Which includes idiosyncratic file locations, LSP files, clean work screens with a minimum of clutter and a lot of keystrokes rather than menus ...
I was a little put off by the statement 'Run your new version alongside your existing installation'
I don't want to lose my customizations or have to patch them, will I be able to jump right into work after the upgrade?

Please advise...

  • Impressed by the extent and depth of new features in v23, I decided to let the installation overwrite my support files, which I backed up first, and expected to spend some time giving the new UIs and workspaces a try before re-customizing. I was surprised, then, to find most of my customizations remained intact, e.g., partial cui, toolbars, panel locations. Not everything, of course. I had to re-append my indispensable custom keyboard aliases to default.pgp because I'd let that get overwritten, and SRCHPATH got reset, and CURSORSIZE, and no doubt some other settings I didn't notice yet. But it was the most seamless upgrade I've done so far, and in a matter of minutes I could have been off and running.

However, I could not find some of the new stuff I wanted to explore, such as the new Civil and Complete workspaces. After skimming the release notes, I discovered that my old configurations had been retained in classic-ribbon.cui. By loading the new modern.cui, I wiped all that out and enabled the new workspaces, which I'm in the process of testing out, knowing that I can switch back to classic at any time.
  • Well the last version of AutoCad I used was a few years ago now - P&ID 2015. It had a very comprehensive tool - under 'tools/options/profiles/..' which saved all customizations.
Jason Bourhill at CAD Concepts had this in 2013:

but unfortunately the URL is 'page not found'.
I really don't like the idea of running different versions of the software as described above by ScottS - it seems to me that it would potentially be a source of inconvenience and confusion.
Also time is running out for me - I need to take another year's license in a few weeks.

That was a long time ago! The website has been changed several times since. You can find this page here
