Drawing with wall compositions?
Hello, a newbie here.
Is it possible to draw walls with compositions already assigned? Not to draw a blank wall first and then assign a composition.

I'm curious about this, too. It would be ideal, I think (faster), but I have not seen a way to do this. Then again, have only experimented with this on a limited basis and i have not tried v23 yet. I hope someone with more experience using the BIM functions of BricsCad can shed some light on this.0

I thought in V23 (?), you can setup Tools like
Quickdrawor Linear Solids to
already use Wall Compositions (?) and use Stories if available.
EDIT : not yet, but maybe soon .....
Have not tested that yet.
I prefer to do it manually as I have to many Wall Compositions over short distances.
And I think the meaning of Bricscad BIM is starting Direct Modeling freely and let
the AI do the lower jobs do for you, like with BIMIFY and Propagate.
So maybe one of these should be able to also assign Compositions to Walls automatically,
based on your Composition Project Collection and nearest Wall thicknesses ?0 -

Those are great !
I just wish I had an option to not use a Composition but enter a thickness instead.
As I may not already know but feel being forced to select any Composition that
may have a plausible thickness
But that is basically POLYSOLID,
which unfortunately is now pretty hidden and does lack the new temporary
Tool Setting Panel.
Maybe I should prepare a file Template with a few base Compositions instead (?)
BTW,
when changing the Composition, it will open the Composition Window
in Filter ALL mode. And I have to switch to "Filter : Walls" only manually.
As it is a "Wall" Tool, I think that Filter switch to Wall Compositions
automatically.
And it even looks like that Filter Setting isn't kept but switches back to ALL the
next time opened.0 -
Hi Michael,
You can create a wall without a composition, by clicking the composition and clicking 'Unselect'. The wall thickness set in the panel will be used in that case.
Or, as you noted, use POLYSOLID, but then you will miss some other BIM(QUICK)WALL features as well.
Your comment concerning the Wall-filter for the compositions definitely makes sense, we'll take it into consideration.

Thank you Ruben.
Got it.
Found "Unselect" on the left side.
I searched on the right side with the "Select" and Cancel" buttons.
Great.
So there is basically no more need for POLYSOLID (?)
(At least in the BIM version)
But could you please check if Wall Width and Wall Height number input
in temp settings panel works for you ?
For me both are ignored.
Also QUICKDRAWdoes not use the Wall thickness that is set in tool but. EDIT : works now
an arbitrary number
V22.2.03
When I deactivated Composition for the first time,
Wall Thickness was -1
(INSUNITS meter)
I thought this is a Setting that will read/use thickness from a composition.
I can type what I want in height and thickness, it draws other dimensions
(previous ones when Composition was still set ?) and when I reopen the Tool
these inputs are zeroed.
Maybe it just needs a Bricscad or macOS restart ?
Now BIMWALL works somehow.
But if I get that right it will work only with negative values ?0
