toggle between face selection and solid selection

sometimes when i try to move a 3d solid it will select a face how can i toogle it to select the solid at one pick?

You need to hold CTRL (Win) or CMD (Mac) to temporary switch Selection Mode.

But you should get used to the Selection Mode Options in Direct Modeling.
(Edge/Face/Boundary)
Some times it is needed to activate or deactivate one of these for your current tasks.
