Gradient color by layer

Is there a way to make the color of a gradient inside a boudary inherited from the layer (1 color gradient By Layer)?

I'm afraid there is no way to do it via existing Gradient options. Maybe it's possible programmatically.0

I eventually switched from gradient to hatch with a solid pattern and it works. Thanks for your help0

Gradient is a type of hatch - no?
Does anyone have trouble with orienting a gradient hatch to anything other than 0o, 90o, 180o, 270o? Choosing any other angle from the dropdown option, or typing another number, has no effect. I have a SR in for this for 15 months, the fault is acknowledged, no fix-date promised - obviously considered low priority. Some more SRs about it might change that.
As a workaround, creating the gradient at 0o then rotating it doesn't work.0
