BricsCAD Error message
Greetings, after a year of enjoying working with BricsCAD, I am all of a sudden getting this message -
"Cannot write to file"
C:\Program Files\Bricsys\BricsCAD V22 en-US\UserDataCache\Support\en-US\default.cui
Please ensure that you have write access to this file."
I have also lost my custom menus - any ideas?
Thank you,
John

Strange.
I do not know if it is likely that the default.cui file could get corrupt.
I assume you may have any Anti Virus App that put it in quarantine or so.
But it is good to add and switch to a custom cui file for your UI customizations,
as the default.cui could be overwritten by an update or upgrade.0 -
Thank you Michael. Just did a system restore (Win 11) and it did not make a difference. I appreciate your response and will give that a shot.0

Hello,
That means you are using the menu/cui file from a wrong folder.
You should unload that menu (command "_menuunload"), and check your user folder under C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Bricsys\BricsCAD/V22x64\en_US\Support for "default.cui" file and load that menu then by _menuload or CUI command (https://help.bricsys.com/document/_guides--BCAD_customization--GD_loadingandunloadingcuifiles/V23/EN_US?id=165079143653 ).

BTW,David Waight said:Patricia, that link is broken.
I also noticed that the complete Bricscad online Help System is broken
since a week or so.
(At that time I just thought the reason might be because accessing from a Beta Version)

I also first noticed that strange path in the warning.Hello,
That means you are using the menu/cui file from a wrong folder.
check your user folder under C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Bricsys\BricsCAD/V22x64\en_US\Support for "default.cui" file and load that menu then by _menuload or CUI command
I am also used to find such App Setting folders in ..... AppData\Roaming ....
But as a Mac user I thought it might be a Windows specific way of shortening
a path or symlink or such thing0 -
Thank you all. I should have gone back to the forum for these answers, but instead I am doing a fresh install. I downloaded the trial version and I assume at some point I will be prompted for my serial number.0
