Object visible when the containing layer is off
I have a drawing where some of the objects of a layer are always visible. When I turn off that layer part of the inserted objects are not shown any more (as it should be) but other objects remain visible independently of the layer status (on or off).
That seem to be the case of all the new objects that I insert on that layer (Xrefs as well as inserted components).
If the object is not inserted but directly drawn, then it works as expected.
What may be the reason?

Xrefs and blocks could have content that is assigned to a different layers. Try to Freeze the layer instead of turning it off.
You can also use LAYFRZ command to freeze layers of specific entities within xref/block, just be sure that 'Block selection' option within the command is set to Entity: run command -> choose Settings -> Block selection -> Entity.0
