How to remove parts of a solid
in 3D Modeling
Hi,
i've created a solid using tintextract command. However, there are some outlying part connected to the solid that I would like to remove.
I've tried the edit command -> _solidedit --> _body --> _separate
but it seems to be stuck, as I am always asked to select a solid.
Can anybody guide me through this?
Thank you!

When selected, does it say Solid ?
If it is a proper Solid, "separate" should work.
I assume it is not really "watertight".
You could try if PushPull at a Face will work.
If you attempt and it marks the Face red, there is a problem.
(I see this when I try to convert my bad Vectorworks Lidar Scan
Meshes to Solid in Bricscad. Overlapping Faces, not all Edges
being touched by another Edge end have a Vertex, ..... )
The first thing I would try with such Solids from Meshes is DMAUDIT.
It often helps, but for my crappy Meshes mentioned above, even
DMAUDIT can't help.
If you want you can attach the tinextract Solid file here to examine.1 -
I have done a Revit demo file import.
Was happy that everything comes in as Solids.
Looked at a Stair that has a solid Stair Body but also Coverings
on risers, treads and landings.
But all is a single Solid.
Tried Separate and it also failed.
Tried PushPull, aborted by highlighting the Stair in red ....
Tried DMAUDIT, flaws before 501, flaws after fixing 501 (!?)0
