Status Bar Freeze: Requires Window Minimize Then Maximize to Function Again

On both others and my BricsCAD installations, the status bar works intermittently but then becomes nonfunctional (or freezes). This occurs on less demanding design tasks containing only basic 2D elements with no external resource file references, of course, no 3D, point clouds, etc.

ISSUE

The coordinates display and buttons become unresponsive.

WORKAROUND

Only the workaround in the title, first minimizing and then maximizing the application window restores its functionality. We are on the Windows 11 OS.

QUESTIONS

1.) Has anyone experienced this issue?

2.) If so, how did you resolve it?

UPDATE

I updated the graphics driver. There was no change: the status bar issue remained.

Thanks,

Clint

Comments

  • me too.

It has been the same since Ver24.
International and Japanese versions are the same.

  • Toyo,

So, have you reported this issue to BricsCAD technical support?

I reported this issue to them. The technician could not replicate this issue.

Prior to the report, I ensured the graphics card and overall system was not the issue. The graphics card driver was updated as well.

The status bar freeze is an annoyance that remains.

    Thanks,

    Clint

  • I've had this issue since V21. You can right click in a grey area that lets you toggle the menu bar and status bar. If you toggle the menu bar off and on it will refresh the status bar. Really annoying.

    Wow!

I have the same problem you described in V24.

Since V25, however, the status bar doesn’t freeze anymore — it disappears instead. I use CTRL+0 (to minimize/maximize) so that the status bar becomes visible again. I press this shortcut several times an hour.

I have submitted multiple support requests. BricsCAD says they cannot reproduce the issue and claim that I'm the only user experiencing it...

The problem occurs on different PCs.
I can’t relate it to the graphics card or the OS — all my systems have different configurations, but the issue with the status bar is always the same.

The only common setup in my ecosystem is that all my data is stored in the cloud. Each PC has a "network drive" connected to that cloud storage. This causes Windows Explorer to refresh constantly, which might be related to the issue?

Is anyone else here using cloud drives?

  • Yes, we are based in the cloud. However, drawing files are downloaded and edited locally then uploaded to the cloud when completed.
