How to copy contents in Excel cell A1 to B2 and paste in to Bricscad as (4) Dtexts?

  • Hm..

Now if just copy from Excel, create new MText and paste into and then explode, it seems to work.

When trying this early, the text was exploded in to single char?

  • Hello.

In my testing, the approach of using an MTEXT entity, pasting inside it, and exploding it, always led to 4 TEXT entities.

Another approach could be to use a data link.
This could be linked to the required range in an Excel file.

Then, a table entity could be created using the data link.
Finally, by exploding the table, 4 MTEXT entities will result.

The advantage of the latter approach is that there is a link which allows for a faster data transfer.
The drawback is that, after exploding the table, the lines representing the borders need to be deleted.

  • Thanks!

My usage is to copy some values from Excel, let say 16 cells values as most.

Then paste into a drawing. Then use a script for Multi copy text to update 16 attributes, at different places.

    Then delete pasted info.

If I use Paste Special… and select CSV - I can pick one by one values. = a solution.

If I use Paste Special… and select Unicode Text - I will have to explode before start picking values- = also a solution.

I was trying to reproduce my issue when exploding MText but I can't get just single chars anymore (= eg. fine)
I also noticed, then, that some text, or maybe just an empty cell, gives "????"

  • I have select a range in excel from Cad so making as text or mtext is certainly doable.

Need a excel and a dwg so can see end result. Post here.

  • But.. I've already got two ways to handle this?

  • An image or a dwg would explain what final dwg should look like.

  • Sorry but post a dwg and a Excel. Reading say a row and updating a block is not a problem.

  • The whole idea is to copy arbitrary cells, different from time to time, then paste these values somewhere on a free surface in the drawing environment, copy these values to different, from time to time, attributes. So there is no particular example to show. I already have two methods of doing this.
