Dayligh calculation plugin ?

Hello,

We want to illuminate the courtyard of a building with mirrors placed at the top of the building to reflect daylight into the patio.
An assessment of the light in the patio needs to be carried out to show the suitability of the solution.

Various parameters need to be taken into account, including :

  • Patio localization
  • Size of surrounding buildings (building color)
  • Patio size (patio color)
  • Mirror size, shape and localization.

As we used Briscad (version Ultimate) I was thinking of using Bricscad with a specialized daylight plugin if necessary.

We called in a design office to determine the software workflow. But He is used to using Revit - ClimateStudio.
Given the cost of the Revit-ClimateStudio pair and the complexity of using them, I don't want to follow that way.

Are there any Briscad-based solutions (+ plugin)?

Regards,

  • Hi Emmanuel

The lights options include a Daylight/Sun settings dialogue.

You can set the nearest city or a set of co-ordinates for the desired time of day/ location

and then render the scene. Although the rendering within Bricscad is sadly limited you can create materials

with reflection etc to use for your mirrors.

There are third party plugins available on the Bricscad web page to extend render capabilities

I hope this will help you.

  • Thanks Norb,

In fact I don't know how to include the mirror optical characteristics (BRDF file) or file with meteo data for w specific localization (we use Meteonorm) , I have seen the list of plugins but it was difficult to knwo which one can give my expected result.

    kind regards,

  • Hi Emmanuel

Rendering capability seems to have been largely neglected in Bricscad.

You will just have to try the available third party rendering apps to see which will

    meet your needs.
