Block Editing - Instances Appearance

Hi All -

when editing a block, all same instances disappear, and only the edited instance is shown.

many times, i need to see the other instances (even as ghosts) while editing, in order to edit respectively (like possible in Sketchup, for example).

Is it possible to set the preferences accordingly ?

Thanxs !
A.

  • You can use REFEDIT command instead of BEDIT, during REFEDIT session other entities are also visible. By default BEDIT is assigned as a double click action for block instances, it can be changed to REFEDIT via Customize → Mouse → Double click actions → find the Block in the left part of the dialog and REFEDIT command in the right, drag and drop REFEDIT to Block to replace assigned command.

I think Assaf was talking about other insertions of the same block disappearing during a REFEDIT session. That's what happens in my older version of Bricscad. Has it changed in newer versions?

As Assaf said, Sketchup shows all the other insertions of a Component while editing one insertion, and shows them all changing at the same time. See GIF file below. That's very nice, but it might not be possible in .dwg format.

Roy Klein Gebbinck, in a 2018 forum post, explained why REFEDIT works the way it does. If that's still true, then I think what Assaf wants to do is impossible.
