Printing a A2 size layout on 2 A3 papersheets

Hello,
I'm battling with trying to print one too big page on 2 sheets.

I'm working with PhantomPdfWriter, pretty well working,

and a HP officeJet Pro 7740 (A3 & A4 formats).

The HPO Jet driver allows to 'tile' a PDF page on multiple sheets, but options are poor: instead of 2 sheets (should be enough), I can only print to a set of 4 or 6 sheets (playing with portrait/landscape options).

So I try to master the output at the "Print from Bricscad to Phantom" step.

But here, I get only possibility to print ONE sheet, with only a segment of the layout.

So I tried to print straight from Bricscad to HP Printer, but the same result :

I get only possibility to print ONE sheet, with only a segment of the layout.

This is disappointing, as if you compare with Excel, Excel will manage to print the number of sheets needed for the table. No similar mechanism in Bricscad (dwg) context?

Would someone have a solution?

Thanks on forward

  • Hello.

Bricscad doesn't have an option to split a layout in multiple pages when printing.
Something to experiment with would be to create two layouts and set each of them similar to one of the halves of the larger layout.

Excel could, indeed, be a suitable approach, because of its particular document structure.

Also, as you mentioned, using a PDF printer could help.

Another alternative would be to use a PDF editor or viewer.

With Adobe Reader, there is the Poster option in the Page Sizing & Handling section of the Print dialog box.
By setting a few parameters, a A2 Landscape page could be printed to two A3 portrait pages.

  • Thank you very much for this very complete answer !

There will be some solutions therein!
