That was never possible in the past. Maybe it's something new in the 2025 version?
Autocad 2025 says that with Pickadd = 0 and the Shift key held down, selecting nothing de-selects everything. Is that what you're doing? If they made that change, I would assume Brics would do it too.
I'd like that, except that I wouldn't want to have to hold down the Shift key. If I have to do that, I might as well just keep on using the Esc key.
Sketchup works the way you described -- selecting nothing de-selects everything. There's no pickadd mode in Sketchup, so to add to a selection set you always have to hold down the Shift key. Same with VectorWorks before that. Ever since I first used VW, in '95, I've been wishing a .dwg cad program could work that way. If BricsCAD 2025 can do what you described, I'll buy the upgrade.0 -

I would say even every CAD/3D App beside Autocad and derivates works like that.
Or Operation Systems, Graphic Software, Office Software, everything ….even FOSS Software like Blender or FreeCAD, which aren't well known for including/respecting common standards.click on no element, it deselects what I had selected before.
That really sounds like PICKADD Setting switched for you.
(And when you have an Object selected and click on another Object, Selection will switch to the new object…)
I intentionally have Pickadd OFF of course.
One of a few mandatory Settings changes that make Bricscad feel like a normal CAD App.
(Unfortunately hat way you are limited in Selection, like in Face Selection, you can't select another Solid with holding CMD and SHIFT to add to Selection)0 -

What really makes it feel normal is disabling the automatic de-select-all after editing commands, and adding automatic selection and highlighting of any new entities created by drawing commands.
