How to export TIN/Contours

I shared a similar question a moment ago but perhaps I did not explain correctly. We are testing the program a If I save a DWG including a TIN (which I have chosen to show as contours) it will not open (for example in ZWCAD) or will open as a PROXY under Civil 3D. What is the correct way/worflow to export a TIN so I can maximize the importing by other users of third party apps? Is there a way to directly export the TIN, the contours? When opening it under Civil it will show but as a whole block, so I cannot select a specific contour line and edit it…

Thanks!

Jose

  • Simple we did it all the time the where the other company was not using our CAD software. A TIN is made up of 3dfaces, so you export those into the dwg as CAD objects. In the other software you read the 3dfaces and make a new TIN.

You cant mix and match TINS from different software as each is proprietary to the software. You can convert TIN's to a solid Surface that may be one way.
