  • I am used that Bricscad likes to crash when closing (Files saved or aborted, at least on Mac) but never seen it crashing when auto saving …..

My other CAD likes to crash when auto save is set to a time interval and the updates interferes with the command currently running. But it will be significantly more stable if it is set to auto update after a given "number of commands", which a) sounds much more useful and b) does auto update after a command is finished and before a new command is started.
Unfortunately Bricscad does not offer this option but time interval only.
But as said, I have no evidence that Bricscad ever crashed because of auto save (can't exclude it either, Bricscad for me crashes at least (?) as often as other apps on Mac but I have no hint when it does or if the reason was an auto backup)

So in your case I would tend that is more a problem with the connection or access rights to the auto save storage.
Therefore I always re-set all my Apps auto save paths to a local fast SSD drive (connection reliability), inside my user folder (access right reliability) and because of to easier cleaning up these temp files when no more needed.

So where do your save path directs to in settings ?

  • For Zoomer I have cleanup.lsp that does just that cleans up the temp directory. Just ask.

  • Looks like a bug, you should report it

    Options

    Files

Save File path "your temp directory"

    Temporary prefix "your temp directory"

    ^

    Log Files

Log File Name "your temp directory"

This will tell you where they are going now. Copy and paste to command line.

    (princ (vla-get-TempFilePath (vla-get-files (vla-get-preferences (vlax-get-Acad-object)))))

  • with crashes you need to either have content that crashes every time, and post that, or identify a pattern of when things crash. In this case, you would suspect anything dynamic, like fields. Then you try removing them from a drawing and see if it behaves. You keep removing until it behaves.

@t151515 Can you give more info beyond crashing at autosave? (I get it too now and then in both cads).
