Stretch command on separated parts of the same entity

I tried to use the Stretch command to consistently move two non-adjacent sections of a closed polyline. I found that the Stretch command ask the user to make a selection and after selecting the first section the command keeps accepting new selections but then when is executed only the first selection is moved. I tried to do the same using the Add option but it also applies the stretch to the first section of the polyline.

In this command description, step 4 is what seems to not to be working properly.

  • @FedeLop, I don't know why this doesn't work (I suspect there is a very simple reason why).

You don't say how you want to stretch the polyline, I am presuming the areas you have indicated are stretching in the same direction, otherwise, it isn't possible to stretch in two different directions at the same time :-)

I don't know if you are aware, but you can move two different parts of a polyline (in the same direction) using grip editing?

Select the polyline and then using Shift, select the two triangles on the midpoint of the two vertical lines you want to stretch (each one goes red), you can stop pressing Shift and then pick either of the red triangles and move in the direction you want or type a distance or use @distance in x, distance in y.

    Hope that helps.

  • David,
Yeah of course, I want to stretch all selected vertices on the same direction on a single operation, no matter if are selected at once or not.
I've been a 2D CAD user since 1993 and worked with quite a few CAD providers. Most commands -included Stretch- are etched on my spinal cord by now.
That grip editing workaround works fine for a few segments, but is not efficient for every scenario, like when there's a lot of segments to move.
