Just started with Shape - Have some problems
I have some questions about Shape:
- Layer colors. It seems I can't change them. The stay white. How do I select a new layer color?
- The buttons on the toolbars. Can I set them smaller? Now the last one I see is 'measure'. I know there are 2 behind that. But they are off screen.
- The program 'Shape' is it still being used and developed by Bricscad? Or is it something that has failed and they just throw it in there.
- Is there a book of youtube channel that show how you have to use it?
Thx
Nick

Shape will be discontinued when BricsCAD v26 is released if I recall correctly, so that would be around end of October.

Yes, sadly I read that along V25 Betas already. I really liked it and sometimes switched to Shape for concept design, although feature wise you could have done the same of course also in BIM, but not in such a simple and pleasant GUI.
I think a free Shape App could have been a great thing - with just a few more brave changes - and finally produce some more Bricscad traffic. But on one hand it kept providing all Autocad flaws, UX issues and ignoring common OS standards, on the other hand it got more and more artificially limited by e.g. not allowing basic "Settings" that bring it more away from Autocad - to common standards, like PICKADD off and such things.
I tried a lot to promote Shape in foreign CAD or 3D environments but I did not get much enthusiasm back.

I've only just discovered Shape and started exploring it - I quite like how it combines some of the freedom of Sketchup with the precision of CAD.
I was going to post some queries about the limited selection of materials (e.g. no slate, clay tile, weatherboarding materials) making it difficult to quickly produce models to explain concepts to clients, but then saw your post about it being discontinued. That does explain some of the weirdness, like no access to settings, no right click customisation etc.
I also agree that it's a mistake to discontinue it - I think with a bit of effort it could easily be a Sketchup competitor, and could pick up a few people disgruntled by the Trimble subscription system. It would also help bring people into the BricsCAD ecosystem - Shape is what made me look at BricsCAD BIM and seriously consider it's use in my office.
