Is there a better way to keep building documentation up to date for FM?”

Absolutely. Facility Management often suffers due to missing or outdated documentation. One smart way to solve this is through 3D laser scan to BIM. By scanning the existing building and converting the point cloud into a detailed Revit model, you can create a digital twin of your facility.

This model can then be used to track assets, manage maintenance, and plan upgrades. With point cloud to Revit modeling services, you're not just documenting a building—you’re making FM smarter and more efficient.

  • Hi Subharata,

We have several tools to create a BIM model based on a point cloud. Because the 'geometry first' principle in Bricscad BIM we believe we offer a more flexible approach than Revit.

Try out: POINTCLOUDDETECTFLOOR, POINTCLOUDDETECTROOM, POINTCLOUDFITROOM and INVERTSPACES. In 25.2 we release POINTCLOUDSCAN2BIM as experimental feature (you need to activate experimental features), it combines all the above commands. This results in a simple BIM model in one click in a few minutes.

There are also semi-automatic tools. BIMWALL and BIMCOLUMN in topview mode can detect the direction and thickness of walls.

Any feedback is welcome to improve our workflow.

    Kind regards.
