Trim to entities of a block

I'm still getting to grips with V25 over V18

In 18 I can Trim (TR) to the components of a block.
I can't see why V25 won't do that.
Have looked at settings but obviously something is toggled other way.
Did a search on line and in help but probably not asking right question

Help much appreciated thanks.

I put a simple example here
Bottom is block and line. Above is block and a line trimmed to the circle. Same result if I click on external square

  • Did you try the default User profile? For me line can be trimmed by circle withing a block, in both Trim modes - Quick and Standard. In default Quick mode internal part of line is highlighted when I hover it and successfully trimmed. The same for Standard mode, after selection of the circle as a cutting entity.

When I looked at your screen shot I see there are other options that aren't in V18 and I obviously wasn't observant! 😊

So yes - it does work. Not as previous as it doesn't clip everything inside the square in one go like V18 but two clicks and it's done.
Will play more tomorrow and see if I can get it to remove all between the straight lines.
    Anyway. Appreciate your input thanks.

  • Well, you need to switch to Standard trim mode or use 'cuTting edges' option in Quick mode to choose the square as the only cutting entity and to clip everything inside it in one go.

So, in Quick mode you choose 'cuTting edges' > select square > click the line. In Standard mode: select square > click the line.

    many thanks Lyubov
    That fixed it

Edit: Now having played with both settings and understanding the process (I think 🙂) I will use the former method.
