Solution to control Snap distance?

When zoomed in close on objects trying to move or copy something I'm often frustrated by the pointer snapping to markers not even in the viewport or on the other side of the viewport or some marker not even close to when there pointer is.

Anyone know a solution to control the distance of snapping attraction?

I run only Insert and Node snaps, but so often it's snapping to an insert not even visible in the viewport.

I've tried Aperture 1-20 no real change.

ATTRACTIONDISTANCE less than 4 no change.

  • Hello.

The APERTURE system variable should make a difference, it is dedicated to controlling the snap sensitivity.
It might be useful to enable the aperture box to see the area of influence - set APBOX = 1.

ATTRACTIONDISTANCE is not useful for this case, it influences only the attraction of grips.

The only way I know of to get "snapping to markers not even in the viewport" is if I click on an entity that's in the viewport but my osnap settings are limited to points on the entity that are not in the viewport. For example, if I zoom in on the middle of a line and click on it, but my osnap settings include ENDP and don't include MID or NEA. In that case, Osnap dutifully finds the endpoint even though I can't see it.
