Civil Gradings / TIN of Pond. Help.

Hi Guys,

I have followed the good video here for Pond design in BricsCAD Pro:

My Question is, does BricsCAD have some simple way of grading the floor of the Pond with a slope? Everything shown seems to always have a flat/level floor, which is quite unrealistic in the real world?
For example, I wish to grade the floor of the pond at 50:1 slope from one side to another, or from one corner to another, so there is a "Shallow Corner" and a "Deep Corner" diagonally?

In my mind, this would be as simple as state the grade you want, and draw a direction arrow onscreen across a Tin surface or grading, and it makes that surface follow that slope, and blends the internal batter surfaces in as required. Then you could "edit" either the grade, or the direction again if required later….

Is there a way to acheive this?

Thanks Guys

  • Hello.

The input entity doesn't have to be parallel to the XY plane of the WCS.
    It can also be sloped.

To slope the input entity, you need to rotate it, or create it as such.
There is no special feature to use a slope arrow for creating a grading input entity.

  • If this is something that you plan to do a lot, then a 3rd party tool, such as Civil Site Design will allow you to perform this task very quickly.

They have lots of videos available to illustrate usage.

  • Civil Site Deign has way more tools for surfaces, roads, drainage and sewers. Inside the grading tool you can do all sorts of changing batter slopes as you go around, meet a fixed offset and so on. Like Jason well worth a look. Runs inside Bricscad, civil 3D and a OEM Autocad.
