How to show section name labels in the model space?

Hi,
In my model, the yellow lines represent sections (floor plans, sections, and elevations).
How can I display a label or callout with the name of each section directly in the drawing?

Thank you!

  • Hello.

The callouts are specific to BIM sections.
    Simple sections don't have callouts.

To convert a section to a BIM section, you could use the _BIMIFY command - see the next article:

Virgil, Thank you for your reply.
I have already converted the sections to BIM Sections, but the labels still don’t appear.
Do I need to do anything else to make them visible?

  • Hello.

The label of a bim section entity is, in fact, the Name property from the Section Entity category.
In my testing, setting this property worked fine, the label was displayed.
From the picture, it is not clear, but there seem to be something set for this property.

The problem could, rather, be related to the size of the section entity, which seems to be really big - I noticed the position of vertex 1.
So, the callouts could be displayed, but they are very small relative to the entire model.
When zooming all, they are not visible.

To check if this is the case, you could zoom in to one of the section ends - the callout is set to StartEnd.
When zooming in far enough, the callout should become visible.

If the callout is displayed but it is very small, then it could be useful to review the model scale and the drawing units.
If everything is fine, you could adjust the size of the callout by editing the block _ElevationCallout and changing the size of the entities there, maybe scaling them up.

  • Hello Virgil,

I believe the problem was indeed related to the BIM classification.
The sections were already classified as BIM, but I used Unclassify and then classified them again — and now it works!
    They were probably misclassified.

Thank you very much for your help,
