Moving Blocks to different layer

Is there a way to move Blocks from their original layer to a new one.

I have received topology drawing of a building site and I want to clean it up so it's easier for me to work with.

The road gulley's on the drawing are all blocks and on layer 'Spot Levels'. When I change the layer of the block to 'Existing Road' (via the drop down menu on the 'pop up' or the properties panel) they still be switched on/off visibility wise by toggling the layer 'Spot Levels' rather than 'Existing Road'.

I understand that the entities within the Block must be on the layer 'Spot Levels', but is there an easier way of changing their layers rather than exploding each individual block?

  • Just found the solution.

For anyone else in the future.

Select the Block. Command 'BEDIT. Correct Block should be selected, click OK. Screen changes to Block Editor. Select all desired entities of the Block. Change their layer to the desired layer. Select Save Block (top left of screen).

  • If a block has all the objects set to layer 0 then all objects will match current layer. So our trees are color green layers.

use Bedit and chprop all la 0 etc. can be a lisp.
