Laggy Zoom behavior in Ubuntu Linux Bricscad V25
I've used Bricscad successfully on this machine for some years. Recently got a demo version of Bricscad V25.
Zooming with the scroll wheel has so much lag the program is unusable. If I touch the scroll wheel, the entire drawing starts slowly zooming in or out, pausing more than a second between redrawing the entire drawing, often zooming so far that I can no longer see any of the drawing, because it is too small or I have zoomed in until the screen is blank. The program is basically unusable because of this bug. Previously, V22 and earlier versions had no such problems on this same machine. These old versions of Bricscad no longer work after upgrading Ubuntu to the latest version.
I found a post that claimed turning off all OSNAPS would help, but that had no effect. Another post recommended setting MTFLAGS = 0, which also had no effect. I see some other posts about this same issue but have not found any more with solutions posted.
I am working on a fairly small drawing of 317 KB file size.
EDIT found a post that indicated VIEWRES had an effect, changed VEIWRES from 15000 to 1000, and answered "Do you want fast zooms?" Yes. No effect on laggy zoom behavior.
EDIT: Using the same drawing, I erased some hatches, and some paperspace objects that had some solid areas. Zoom behavior is much better. In the old days of CAD, hatches could be a real test of performance, and sometimes a hatch would crash some computers. Is this test indicating my graphics card just isn't up to the task anymore, although it worked fine on previous versions?
Running Ubuntu Linux V24.04.3LTS on Dell Precision T3600, 32GB memory,Xeon E5-2670 X 16 processors, Radeon HD 2900 R600 graphics card from AMD, Bricscad V25, not running under Wine.
