Exposing internal flexibility of component externally

Dear all,

I have a user inquiry concerning constraints in mechanical. I would like to assemble a component using STD_PARTS_PIPING_CONNECTION to externally behave as a piping element and to dispose over flexible joints within the component itself. The goal is to construct a segmented bow which determines the joining angles itself (see example image below).

I have assembled a test using axes and constraint (see image below)

  1. Testing the component in the file SR____1.dwg works as expected, meaning entities on layer _joints behave flexible when fixing one end.
  2. I then insert the file as a component using _BMINSERT into a fresh drawing.
  3. Attaching a pipe standard component works as expected.
  4. I attached two pipes either side and attach a FIX constraint on one pipe. When I then try to move the other pipe my custom component is inflexible for internal joints.

Any advise on how to expose the flexible behaviour for the layer _joints externally is appreciated. Attached I have a Screencast as well as a sample file.
