Stretch Command

In v25, I was able to click on a line, say 5.0" in length, it would bring up the control points. I would select one of the end points from either end, type in 6.0" and it would stretch it 1.0" for a total of 6.0". In v26, when I try to do the same thing, it will stretch the line to 11.0" (original 5.0" + new 6.0").

I would like to keep it the same as v25. I know this must be a simple attribute change, just not sure which one. Can somebody point me in the correct direction?

Your "problem": DYNDIGRIP.

In V26 you are entering the value into the Extended length field (delta), so it adds 6.0 to the existing 5.0 → 11.0. In V25 you were using Resulting length (total length).
Set:
DYNDIGRIP = 1

This enables only Resulting length, so entering 6.0 will make the line exactly 6.0 long, not 5.0 + 6.0.

Alternatively, when grip-editing, press TAB to switch between Extended length and Resulting length.

EDIT: You may also consider turning Dynamic Input off entirely and using the command line instead (`DYNMODE = 0`).

The command line is faster, unambiguous, and avoids confusion between Extended length (delta) and Resulting length (total length). You always know exactly what you are entering.

Also useful to know: in CAD, extending a line is simply giving a direction plus a distance. For example:

@6<0

means: extend 6 units in the current direction (0 degrees). The @ indicates relative input (distance from the last point), which makes operations like extend, offset, and parametric construction precise and predictable.

Many experienced users prefer the command line for this reason.
