performance slowdowns
hi Everyone
I use BricsCAD Mechanical. To work around some issues (I couldn’t insert mechanical parts from the library), I had to create a new profile, but now the CAD is extremely slow; what could be causing this?

What version (V26.2 or older version) are you using and what OS and version are you using?
Especially with V26 I am experiencing a lot of annoying bugs and other tedious to solve things and usability degradation because of changes made in V26. When BricsCAD starts to get really slow I know that a crash may be coming soon so I simply restart BricsCAD. For some reason it insists on sending a crash report almost every time after closing it properly and then starting it again so it seems that something is wrong at a core level. But that may be separate (or not) from your issue if you are on V26.
Usually a profile change should not cause extreme slowness, that is… I've never experienced that on Windows but that doesn't mean it can't happen.
If you are on Windows, did you try to repair the install? It could be that some files or references got corrupt/broken somehow that caused the original problem and then changing the profile may only partially fix that problem.
Another thing I have observed over the years on Windows is that after update on update on update, Windows and applications, the computer may slow down in general or software applications may become less stable or increasingly buggy. A Windows refresh (or even better a clean reinstall) and doing a clean reinstall of the software application may improve things a lot when it comes to speed and stability because you get rid of a lot of (outdated) junk on your system. Though it may not always be the solution for all problematic applications depending on the cause of the issue(s).
