Error: Could not load acis.dll library

Solid modeling does not work in Icad Pro on my computer. Has anyone had luck with this?

  • I think this is because the installset updated your existing installation, but did not change any options. In order to add the new features, You should modify the installation, and check the options VBA and Acis editing. Modifying can be done by- doubleclick the installset again. You'll get an option to remove/modify/repair the installset- in control panel, add/remove programs, doubleclick on intellicad4regards, sanderregards, sander

  • I downloaded the new Pro package and I go the same message. My package doesn't even show VBA or ACIS modeling available as an option during the install. I know I pulled down the right package because I tried the standard version when the Pro package didn't work the first time with the "source file corrupt" problem. I even did a complete uninstall then installed the Pro package from scratch. Still getting the same "unable to load acis.dll message". Other than that, I love the improvements you have made with Paper Space and dimensioning.

  • Same here. There is no option to select solids editing or VBA.

  • I've re-installed the "new" pro version where I DID select MODIFY where I DID have the option to select ACIS & VBA. The install went smooth, the ACIS.DLL IS in my BricsCad install directory. I still get the "Could not load acis.dll" error ?My 2 cents.. :-)

  • Oh, well. I read the fine print on the download page (I normally use ftp). Seems the ACIS stuff cannot be enabled until you actually purchase the upgrade license. There had better be a good technical reason for this, since in general I don't purchase anything (at least software) without trying it first.

  • I agree! I have several licences of Intellicad. I definitely don't want to upgrade to version 4 Pro without trying it first. Bricscad must change that, I think that most of the users want to try it first before buying it.

  • Apparently you have to wait until the license key is sent to you. Here's the fine print from the download page:BricsCad IntelliCAD Pro doesn't install the ACIS Editing and VBA components in Trial mode. In order to install these components please install your Pro license key when installing BricsCad IntelliCAD Pro.If you already installed BricsCad IntelliCAD Pro in Trial mode please install your Pro license key and modify your existing installation (Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel) by adding the ACIS Editing and VBA components.

  • If you upgrade by 4/31, you get the Pro version for the same upgrade price.

  • Where did you get that from? There is no mention of a time-limited offer at the Bricscad e-store.

  • I think that Bricscad should clarify this. I already upgraded to version 3.3 with the right to upgrade to version 4 at no cost. So I already have the regular license to version 4, but not the right to try version 4 Pro, as far as I understand. I believe that there is no way to try the Pro version unless you buy it.

  • I e-mailed them friday about this and I got a new license number for the Pro version. They were very prompt and courtious about replying. So far I really like what I have had time to test out.

  • there are a number of issues here. I'm engineroom, but i can give a start: there is a legal issue with VBA , that we have to pay a fee for it if we install the dlls on a machine, whether it is functional or not. It is not possible to try out VBA.Maybe we can provide possibility to try out acis licenses, but at this stage, i'd argue for simplicity. It's a pity that acis can't be evaluated beforehand right now. It's a solid and complete implementation. We'll look into it. Then, the difference between upgrade and modify:upgrading is different from modify in that whatever you chose before, of chose not to install, is respected. But an upgrade doesn't give you an option. So an upgrade has to be followed by a modify if you have a pro key. We will change the installer so that it installs vba and acis on upgrade (if you have a pro key) so that you don't have to do an extra modify afterwards(which is the most common case).regards, sander, bricscad

  • Thanks, Sander. That clears things up a bit. My reason for caution comes from experience with ACIS in Autocad R14/2000. ACIS modeling in those otherwise very stable programs was always prone to crashes and drawing corruption. I realize work has must have been done on the kernel since then, and that Bricscad has long-time experience with ACIS in Architecturals.
