OVERKILL command

I have always struggled with the OVERKILL command to understand what I need to put in the tolerance box to get entities to be deemed as overlapping.

In the attached file I have typed everything in the box from 0.000001, to 0.5 and I can't seem to get Bricscad to notice that the corner ticks on this drawing have overlapping entities.

I am obviously missing something in my understanding of this command.

And as a by the way it would be a much nicer workflow if it could do a preliminary check and indicate what it was going to remove before it did so (I know this goes against the way Autocad does it so that would probably be Octaves rationale for not changing it).

Any guidance would be gratefully accepted.

  • Update:

After opening another file and copying and pasting the entities in, it worked perfectly.

Not only that, but going back to the original file, it is also working perfectly in that as well!

I didn't restart Bricscad or close and reopen the file.

Sometimes you just can't make it up.

  • I have never changed this value.
It is set to 1e-06 on my system.

  • Hi Ben,

    Thanks for the reply.

Bizarrely, after replying to my own post, it started playing up again, so I will try your suggestion and see how I get on.
