Bring Forward And Send Backward

I use a lot of hatching in my 2D drawings in order to make objects and entities appear in front of or behind other objects and entities.

I use the 'Draw Order' command from the right-click context menu to accomplish this, but instead of sending an object all the way to the front or all the way to the back, I'd like to be able to just move it one step at a time.

In some graphics programs, this incremental movement of the visibility of an object or entity is often known as something like 'Bring Forward' or 'Send Backwards'.

I mainly use the "Bring To Front" and "Send To Back" functions from the submenu under the 'Draw Order' option in the context menu, but I have also tried the "Bring Above" and "Send Under" functions.

I've probably just be using those "Bring Above" and "Send Under" wrong, as they haven't given me the results I desire, so I'm checking to see if they are supposed to function like 'Bring Forward' or 'Send Backwards' functions would in other programs or if there is a hidden feature somewhere in BricsCAD that would give me the ability to move entities forwards or backwards just one step at a time.

  • I know there is an option as part of the hatch settings, to automatically place the hatch under the "objects"… which I assume the objects that form the boundary. That may be a help.

  • One way that may work is for 2D dwg's use Z elevation values and stack the objects vertically. Has worked for me in the past.

You are right though had to do some images for a Word document, it was a zoning map at bottom, then a wipeout, then objects on top again. Just got use to doing Draworder in correct sequence using it multiple times.
