Slow Saving speed when saving on a network
Ever sense version 2.2 saving to our network server has slowed down tremendously. I thought that it was just one of those things. We recently upgraded our server and the problem is still there, so that ruled out our server as the problem. I have also been upgrading the computers around our office and it exists on all of the new machines as well. Yesterday I was showing one of our employees about the new version 5.0.0008 that I was getting ready to give him. Here is where I found the slow down. If I save the drawing (It is a 2.25 mb drawing) to my computer hard drive it takes less than a second to save (WAY TO GO BRICSCAD) but when I save that same drawing to the server it takes 40 seconds to save. Just as a check of our network I took the drawing that I saved onto my computer and copied it onto the server. Again it took about 1 second to copy over to the server. This is something that really needs to be looked into. Our network is a straight 100 network. The server is a dual 3.06 Xeon with 1gb of memory running Novell 6.5, on 10,000 rpm hard drives. The computer workstations that I am building are A64 3200+ with 512mb of memory with Windows XP. I doubt that it is a hardware issue, but I would like someone else that is working off a network to see if they run into the same thing. This is something that REALLY hurts our company because we work with 3+ mb drawings all the time and the larger the drawing the longer it takes to save to our network.James VanZandt

James, thanks for sending us the sample drawing: we could indeed easily verify this.We agree on the importance of the issue and will make efforts to dramatically improve performance of saving to a network drive. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!Hans De Backer
