Linux

The new beta is in .rpm format. I have switched to a Debian distribution which uses .deb packages. Should I use the 'alien -i' command to convert and intall this rpm file? Thanks,Rob

  • You unzip .rpm sample in MC.I work in Gentoo and I have bricscad-5.1.0012-1.i386.tgz

  • The RPM is supported on RedHat, Fedora Core and SuSE linux. For any other linux you can try to install using a tgz. The link to the tgz is not published on the website. To download the tgz, go the rpm download page but instead of downloading, right click the download icon, select 'copy link location' or 'copy shortcut', paste the link in the browser address bar and replace the rpm at the end by tgz.You can unpack the tgz anywhere you want, but the default location is /opt/bricscad. There is a release.txt that explains more on setting up an icon and how to start the application. You need a working installation of wine for BricsCad to run. So please install wine before installing BricsCad.
