Convert DWG Files to PDF

I'm looking for a good (but cheap) way to convert my Bricscad dwg files to pdf format to facilitate transmission of electronic documents with others. DataCad has this capability built in to their software. Does Bricscad plan on including this in a future release? What experiences are Bricscad users having with various conversion programs? Thanks!

  • All that's needed to do this conversion from DWG to PDF is really a PDF-printer. You print your DWG to a virtual printer that generates a PDF file.See http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/PDFCreator is a free tool which allows you to easily create PDFs from any Windows program. It is based on AFPL Ghostscript 8.14. You use PDFCreator like a printer in Word, Excel, BricsCad... or any other Windows application. As it's name suggests PDFCreator's default output is PDF. However you can also output to other formats such as ps / eps, png, bmp, tiff.PDFCreator comes complete with on-line help and a Windows installer which installs and sets up the GhostScript stuff for you...The PDFCreator installer creates a PDFCreator Printer driver. For most desktop applications (office applications) this default PDF driver is fine. For CAD drawings you will find that the Paper sizes that come with this printer driver are not sufficient. Once PDFCreator is installed, I install a new Large format printer that support PS (PostScript) and redirect it's output to the PDFCreator port as outlined below:-add a printer using Windows>Settings>Printers and faxes> Add printers (HP DesignJet 750C/PS is a good candidate)-(optional) give it a name which denotes that it's output is redirected to PDF (e.g. call it HP750PDF or PDF_HP750)-once installed go the Printers and faxes window again ( Windows>Settings>Printers and faxes)-in the Printers and faxes window select the printer you have just added then right-click and select Properties-in the Properties dialog select the 'Ports' TAB-by default the active port is probably set to LPT1 Printer Port-scroll down in the list and locate the port called PDFCreator and select this port by selecting it.-close the Properties dialog via the Apply button.Enjoy...

  • check out www.pdf995.com. They have a free download that installs as a virtual printer. For the fee of $9.95 US, you obtain a license that prevents your computer from automatically going to the pdf995 website.
