Text appearing different in version 6
I have version 4 of Intellicad. I use a true type font named Tekton. The intellicad manual recommends a 6" text height for 1/4" scale drawings in order for the text to be legible. I found with this font the height to be too small so I have been using a 7 1/2" tall font to print. When I send the .dwg files to people using both Autocad and Intellicad (newer releases) the text jumps on the screen and looks to large. It also prints too large. I recently downloaded Intellicad Version 6 and resized my text height to 6" which looks closer to the way it prints in Autocad, but still slightly different. The issue I am facing is this font appearing on screen and printing is different between versions of Intellicad. I am looking for assistance in how to make my .dwg files print the same way and also appear the same way on the screen regardless of the version or program being used. I have filed a support request. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it specific to the font I am using? Thanks,Paul

Some background: calculating TTF glyph outlines is complex and 'expensive' on processor time. Autocad rolled its own (proprietary) code to calculate the TTF character glyphs, while BricsCad and IntelliCad use standard MicroSoft Windows functions to get their TTF glyph outlines. Hence the slight differences in shape and size. This used to be worse in V4, so we made adaptations in V5 to more closely mimic AutoCad's TTF interpretation. This indeed results in differences between the way V4 and V5/V6 display TTF, we see no way to avoid it, its a price we pay for increased compatibility.

Thank you Hans,Are there other types of fonts that are more compatible or a better way of doing it? Is there a reference you can point me to?Thanks,Paul
