Inserting a Word Document

I have a client that is using BricsCAD 6.1.0005 and Microsoft Word 2000 version 9.0.3821 SR-1. He has two different computers one with Windows 2000 and the other with Windows XP Pro. When he tries inserting an object either from scratch or from file he gets an error message: Fail to create object this only happens when trying to insert a Microsoft Word Document or a WordPad Document. If he inserts an excel spreadsheet it works fine. Now, to throw another twist into the matter if the link toggle is toggled on it inserts the Word document but all of the formatting is lost. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to reproduce the problem myself and have the same version of BricsCAD and Word, therefore need some advise as to what could be causing the problem or suggests on how to get it to work on the clients machine.

  • We did a few tests with rtf documents and found a resize problem. After editing the document, the OLE object has to be stretched in order to make it readable again. But after stretching it is ok. Does that match what you find? For one rtf document, only the first line was visible in the OLE insert, but this not only happened with Bricscad . Other applications had the same problem.Alexander Van Heuverzwyn,Bricscad

  • The problem our client is having has nothing to do with a resizing issue. The client gets an error message: Failed to create object and nothing shows up in the drawing when they goto insert - object and select Microsoft Word Document or Wordpad as the file type. If they select insert from file and then browse for a word document they get the same error message. But if the link option is check it will place the document but the formatting of the document is incorrect (any text that was centered is no longer centered). The issue is why does the client get the failed to create object error message when inserting a word document if the link toggle is not check?
