ViewCTR swings wildly ?

At least my observations implicate ViewCTR.This has been problem for me since the beginning. Is ViewCTR the point at which View rotations occur ? When I'm working with a 3D drawing and want to change the viewPoint I hold down CTL key & move the mouse. As long as ViewCTR is close the drawing rotates smoothly within the viewport. The problem is that ViewCTR "VERY OFTEN !" decides to pick a point far away :-( Then when I rotate the view the slightest touch sends everything I'm looking at far away :-( Am I correct in my focus on ViewCTR ? Is there another function I should be aware of ?Thanks, Dez..

  • A bit of experimentation appears to found the behavior I was looking for. 1) Position the UCS at the origin of your desired view rotation point 2) Execute DVIEW, accept all objects & select POINTS 3) Enter 0,0,0 & accept the camera view 4) Exit DVIEW,Now as long you don't PAN !! The ViewCTR will stay fixed at 0,0,0 and you rotate or zoom all you want :-)I would still prefer direct access to the ViewCTR variable ?

  • This process doesn't work all the time :-(, Most often though. I don't know what the trigger is ?I wish ViewCTR wasn't read only.Z..

  • I've discovered that ELEVATION was at -884.25 ? ? I don't know what changes it ? But I watched it change several times now while working in 3D ? I'll be mindful in the future & perhaps I'll figure out what the trigger is ? I can't imagine why Elevation would change without me specifically changing it ? Anyway, making sure elevation is Zero & from time to time Zoom Centering on the origin keeps my view rotation behaving perfectly.
