shx files
I am using BricsCAD version 6.2.0012 and cannot get any of the shx files we created in AutoCAD to load using the "load" command. Help!?

Mine also just says "not a shape file", even with Icad's own shx files. I never tried that way. "Style" or "st" should work, or I usually use Icad's explorer.

John,Thanks for the response. Let me clarify. The shx files I'm attempting to load are not font files, but shx object files. These shx files contain simple shapes (or objects) I would like to use in complex linetypes. For example, our linetype for a chain link fence is a solid line with a diamond embedded in it (looks something like "-----<>------", but with solid lines).By creating a complex linetype definition that references the shx file I am able to create our chain link linetype... at least in AutoCAD. The documentation for BricsCAD claims that the same functionality exists in BricsCAD. But, so far I haven't been able to pull it off.If you're familiar with AutoCAD (I realize you may not be), you know that you can load an shx object file (using the "load" command) and use the objects in a fashion similar to using blocks. I was hoping someone could tell me how to get shx object files to load. I think if I can get the an object shx file to load, then I will be able to create the complex linetype.I sent BricsCAD support a copy of the object shx file I'm attempting to use. They verified that they cannot get the shx file to load either, but did not make any recommendations on how to fix the problem. I was hoping someone in this group may know how.Note: We are hoping to use BricsCAD as a cost effective alternative to AutoCAD. We have a big project coming up, and if I can get this complex linetype issue resolved, we will probably go forward using BricsCAD.

Sorry I misunderstood. I had used the odd shape file in Acad some years ago but never bothered in Icad. Tried to use a (Icad) complex linetype recently but it was so dependent on linetypescale I gave up.Can I comment that after much swapping of files and software changes I now try hard to avoid using fonts, linetypes etc which I made myself because there's a good chance they won't be readable by others... or perhaps by me in a few years.I know that doesn't help and I have been looking for a way to indicate flexible duct myself but using something in Icad which would also be in Acad, or turbocad etc.

I have the same problem. You already found a solution for this?

Which question - shx files or flexible duct?I haven't attempted shx files since, but use splines with dot4 linetype for duct. It was impractical with pen plotters, but works well on inkjets, you can read text it runs over and can pass for hidden when it runs across other ductwork. What looks really great is polylines with a dotted linetype and given a thickness representing the flex duct dia, but that gave inconsistent results between versions.

the shx files,We used to work with ACAD, now we can't use our linestyles anymore, they are simply continuous lines.

Could you please file a support request and attach a sample so we can investigate what exactly goes wrong? Thanks!

Problem solved,I upgraded to version 8.1.18 and everything seems to work now. Thanks anyway.
