NONE option
Hi,Does Bricscad have an equivalent for the AutoCAD "none" snap mode, which temporarily suspends all snapping? Was very happy to learn, in a discussion below, that there's an automatically loaded "from" snap mode. Hoping there's also some sort of "none." I'm a keyboard oriented user and typing "none" is much, much easier for me than going to the snap menu and shutting things off just to enter a single point. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Are you aware of the SHIFT+'right hand mouse' button menu? This will give you a one-time snap setting - and one of the options is 'all entity snaps off'.

Also, the F3 function key should toggle esnapsoff and on...even in the middle of a command.

Thanks for the responses. The F3 snap toggle works great. The shift-right-mouse approach doesn't seem to work right for me. If I use the shift-right-mouse and pick the "All entity snaps off" option, I'll get an error "No found for selected point." It does work to temporarily override the snap settings for another snap setting, just can't seem to suspend all snapping by this method. Glad to know about the method anyway. It'll come in handy for other things. - Thank you both for your input.

Yes, there is a "NONE" option. However, I had run into the same problem as you until today. Everytime I tried the NONE option by typing "none" in the middle of a command, it was ignored. However, I just had it work on a paperspace object. This is a bug. I have the current release.Joe Dunfee

The command used by the snap toolbar says '_none. That works as it should (with the apostrophe at the front). Hadn't noticed since I usually use the toolbar with running snaps, mouse for single snaps. It should be just a matter of editing the menu.A while ago in Icad I believe the mouse snaps would set esnaps (or osnaps) rather than snaps - that just needed a menu edit to fix too.

...only one thing, 'none sets esnap off permanently.'esnap;t toggles it off/on temporarily (which is what the F3 keyboard command issues).

there are 3 issues here- a bug. Indeed the one time snap option 'None' malfunctions. We'll fix it.- different no-snap states, reflected in the OSMODE system variable. There is OSMODE 0 and there is the flag that adds 16384 to osmode. The second behaviour happens if you toggle the ESNAP button on the statusbar. This does not lose any snap options, it just disables them until you toggle again.- It is possible to change snap with a command call and with an option, but while the mechanism is different, the strings used are the same. If no command is active and you type 'ENDPOINT' then entpoint snap is set(OSMODE=1), and this setting persists until the user decides to change it again. The same if you call the command 'ENDPOINT' transparently (using a leading quote) during another command. The 'ENDPOINT' snap mode is also available as an option during commands. This option sets a temporary snap mode for the next point input. It is not a command. As a consequence, the user can opt to modify the entity snap toolbar, and remove the quotes that indicate transparent calls to a command. If these quotes are removed, and you press a snap button when no command is active, the input 'ENDPOINT' will be treated as a command, and when you press it when a command is active, it will be treated as an option.regards,Alexander Van Heuverzwyn, Bricscad
