New to IntelliCAD (new to CAD!)

Hello,I am a landscape designer with an itch to get on the computer with my designs. I purchased IntelliCAD last year but have not done much but play with it and get frustrated. I would like to know from you all out there how to even begin to learn such a program. I am not a computer novice at all, but the process of even getting started with CAD has me baffled. Can it be learned with a book and practice, or do I have no choice but to take an evening AUTOCAD course? Your suggestions are appreciated.

  • Intellicad Help file are not bad to start off with, ICAD and AutoCAD are close enough that you could pick up one of the many Autocad book as a guide. I know there is a autocad 2000 for dummies (no offense meant), that might be worth a go. You could try a reference book for autocad and the ICAD 2000 help files and try by yourself. It is possible to teach yourself, but it will save time and tattered nerves if you have some help/guidence ie book or one or two night courses. The other option is to try and find someone near your area that you know with some degree of Autocad experience that could just give you starting up advice. Hope that is of some help.

  • You might also try this.http://www.eaglepoint.com/freeThey have a computer based training program that you can buy. You will find in under "CBT DEMOS" ..."CAD SYSTEMS" ... "INTELLICAD 2000". This is just a demo to show you what the program is like. If you want to buy it, it costs $89.It might be worth a look.

  • I always recommend a basic course in AutoACAD to start with at a local institution or one-to-one. The 'One-Night-A-Week' type for say 10 weeks are better than the 2-3 day intense courses. Please state where you leave so if there is someone in your area they might be able to get in touch with you.I offer support and training to companies in Adelaide South Australia and I specialize in AutoCAD and IntelliCAD.My website: http:\computersupport.itgo.comShould I be able to assist you or anyone else please get in touch.Best regards and all the best with CAD,Andreas Vasiliou

  • I have been working with AutoCAD and intelliCAD for 10 years and teaching this two programs for five years. I did not know anyone who learned to work with them using books or userguides or something like that. My recommendation: take an AUTOCAD or IntelliCAD course with a good teacher and you will have no problems. Best regardsDamián Serrano

  • If you go to http://www.IrrigationTutorials.com you will find some free tools for irrigation design with IntelliCAD that might help a bit also.
