using "Group..."
From the Tools pull-down menu, we can create a Group of a number of selected entities by name or unnamed. How do we insert the Group created? Anyone know where the command can be found?

I've only played with groups a bit. But, my understanding is that these do not behave like blocks at all. They sort of act like what other Microsoft applications call a group... the difference being that you must activate a group from the dialog box to make it selectable.I am a bit puzzled about what groups are used for.I really think that the command you want to use is "block". This way you can create a set of objects that you can insert by name.Joe Dunfee

In my view GROUP is used to link a number of entities together.So if you want to modify something you only have to select only one of the members of the group to get the whole lot selected at once.So you don't 'insert' a group I think.You select a number of entities in the drawing to become members of a group.Arno van Eeuwen

Ok, now I see one major benefit of groups. While you can select all the items with one click, like a block, the difference is that you can stretch or otherwise edit a group.Joe Dunfee

Group entities also have an item# (list) that is static . Mainly useful in programming. At least it did in V7, maybe I better check.

I'm sure the Group command used to bring up a dialogue box but this seems to have disappeared in the latest V7

This could be a useful feature request: a behavior similar to acad's "select by group name".in acad when copy/move/etc you can answer "g" and write a group name or pick an object, then their group is selected (if marked as selectable). if the object belongs to more than one group, you can selective select by using CTRL, to add those grouped objects to current selection set.AR

Think of it like a permanent selection set
